Silver Bachi
This class is designed for folks aged 55+ and is meant to teach all of the fundamentals of taiko and music at all levels. Similar to a Silver Sneakers class, we will blend light aerobic work into practice to make sure all students are being cared for, mind and body. Taiko’s history, traditions, and folk dance will also be learned.

Dress Rehearsal
This event is intended for SKMD students performing in the Winter Showcase. This rehearsal will include final fittings of uniforms, reviewing songs (in whole), going over choreography to switch between songs, and practicing performance etiquette to impress our audience. Sensei Kristina will provide snacks and drinks for everyone.
Parents of Taiko Tots & Taiko Tigers students are welcome to observe rehearsal.
SKMD Winter Showcase
Twice a year we host a showcase to display all of the great songs and skills that our students have learned over the semester. This will be the fist showcase hosted in our new dojo. It is intended to be a fun affair, filled with support from friends and family so the more the merrier. There is no ticket fee, but donations will go towards uniforms and show costs. Light refreshments will be available (donations welcome).

Suzuyuki-Kai Odori Recital (Phoenix)
Every five years, the dancing part of SKMD will host a formal staged recital to showcase its students in Phoenix and Tucson. This year, it will be at the Herberger Theatre Center in Phoenix October 19, 2025 and begins at 1:30pm.

Experience timeless pieces from our repetoire, each playing tribute to refined beauty of kimono, the nuanced movement of a fan, and the deep emotional currents of Japan’s cultural heritage.
